My name is Aubrey, and I'm the maker behind the scenes of Chasing Blue Jays.
I learned to crochet more than 25 years ago when my step-mother was pregnant with my youngest brother. She was working on a baby blanket for him and showed me the basics of the chain stitch, single crochet, and double crochet.
I worked on a few projects through my school years, but I wouldn't say that I got serious about creating until after I was in my 30s and married. With the popularity of social media, I began saving patterns and projects to try and amassed quite a yarn stash.
It quickly became evident that I wouldn't be able to use all projects myself or give them away, so in Spring 2016, the Chasing Blue Jays shop was launched on Etsy, name inspired by my two-year-old pit bull pup who loves to chase birds in the backyard.
The shop is a collection of pieces I love that I'd love to bless your home - from hats to home decor to furbaby accessories. I love a new pattern to challenge me, and I love bright colors.
